Its the truth. Its been like that ever since america started. you can't really be helping them out if they don't even want you there. i still don't see how destroying their cities and killing innocent people is helping them in any way? -- a girl should be two things, classy and fabulous! - coco chanel Proud to be Canadian

I've doubt that the soldiers have talked to every Iraqi. We're helping them develop their government, which is what I said. They're not under our control, but we're trying to create a republic. And, yes they want us to leave. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/26/AR2006092601721.html http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2004-04-28-poll-cover_x.htm -- well maybe you should just drink a lot less coffee and never ever watch the ten o'clock news maybe you should kiss someone nice or lick a rock, or both ---Regina Spektor Ghost of Corporate Future

yeah, proudtexasgirl, wasn't it you who said, we shouldn't be giving so much money to other countries when we have our own problems? the problem is you are only helping the countries that are considered a threat to the u.s -- a girl should be two things, classy and fabulous! - coco chanel Proud to be Canadian

I haven't really been part of the conversation, I hope you don't mind me jumping in, but I have some things to say. I'm sorry if I have misinterpreted anyone as I have not read through all of the pages. First off, as a comment to the youtube video, just because a Senator didn't know any of Obama's accomplishments doesn't mean that he doesn't have any. It just means that the Senator doesn't know anything about him (it was rather early on in the election process, wasn't it?). Obama was relatively unknown then. And frankly, as another user mentioned, Obama's lack of experience card is being just as overplayed as McCain's age. Second, as I see we are on the topic of Iraq, I have a quick comment. Don't you think we should work on helping our own country before helping Iraq (setting aside the real reason we went into Iraq-oil, but that is beside the point). There are SO many people without health care (including many people in my family who really need it) and there are so many homeless people who need help. Instead we choose to send money to Iraq, where more Americans die each week? I don't understand it. And we are in so much debt it's unbelievable, debt that WE, our generation, will have to pay off.

And we are not "forcing them to learn that democracy is better". We are not forcing them to do anything. They wanted help and that's why the Iraqi government is working with the US and allies to rebuild their country. -- My name is Katie. I love Joseph. Kenneth Wayne Savage is my guardian angel.

I think creative-chick04, you have it a little mixed up. I agree with you... sort of... but you are taking it a little to the extreme. The people of Iraq do want us there - I don't know where you get that only 1/3 of the population wants us there but if you talk to nearly any soldier who has been there and dealt with the people on a one-on-one basis, the majority of them appreciate that the US is helping them. Iraq currently is a democratic state and they are working on strengthening their government. We are not running their government; we are helping them get on their feet and stay on their feet. -- My name is Katie. I love Joseph. Kenneth Wayne Savage is my guardian angel.

so exactly how is, going into a country and trying to help them by creating a democracy, and the "eliminating" the population that doesn't want to there in the first place, not forcing them? would you like it if some other country came and invaded the us telling you to change your political ways? and if you don't agree with it then you're out of luck? -- a girl should be two things, classy and fabulous! - coco chanel Proud to be Canadian

yeah...i dont want the usa to like...KILL peopl and what not..but yeah i know that is a good point..but at least 1/3 of the people agree with it...i'm pretty sure 98% people in usa agree with democracy unless you have a different percentage -- Team Edward -or- Team Jacob --Who to choose? Force them to learn that democracy is better than what I thought you meant before I guess... That's like China coming to our country and forcing us to believe that communism is better. Sure, democracy is more ethical, but the idea of democracy is just as foreign to them and bad to them ad communism is to us. -- Edited by xAnotherRainyDayx at 08/23/2008 4:30 PM PDT -- well maybe you should just drink a lot less coffee and never ever watch the ten o'clock news maybe you should kiss someone nice or lick a rock, or both ---Regina Spektor Ghost of Corporate Future
