I hate those checks at school =( My back used to hurt but I never had it. Even though your family has low income you really should go to a doctor if you can & they will answer all your questions, I don't know much about it, sorry =( -- ~ Cory ~ xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Hey tayleekinz! One way to see if you have scoliosis is to look in the mirror: one of your hips should be higher than the other. Another is to bend over and let your arms kinda dangle in the air, and let someone look at your back. If you have scoliosis it'll look kind of slanted on one side (lol I don't really know how to explain it). But I think everything will be fine !! And I'm not sure if people jumping on your back could affect it, but I would try to avoid it because it could make your back hurt. (My brother does it all the time to me; he's so annoying!!! lol) Just relax and don't strain your back and you should be fine! The doctor will tell you more things to do. He'll probably have you get x-rays. (Having scoliosis got me out of having to do archery in P.E! And having to do all those flips and stuff. I always hated archery haha)

i also have scoliosis. i found out when i was at school too, and then my doctor confirmed it! however, that was like 5 years ago, and to this day i am fine when we got our scoliosis checks they said it can be caused by leaning on your hip when you stand, like leaning to one side with your weight on one hip--- if that makes sense haha basically, if you dont want it to get worse just work on your posture and stand up straight and you'll probably never have to get surgery -- dance. dance. dance. :] i want to make a little dent in this world.

Hi tayleekinz! I have scoliosis too. Mine isn't that bad, but my doctor said I might have to get a back brace. When I found out I had scoliosis a few years ago, my doctor told me to do these weird exercises. (I never did them though.) I have back pain a lot, too. If your scoliosis is really bad, you may need surgery, but otherwise, a back brace should help it. Just don't do anything to strain your back! Cuz it can really hurt. (I really shouldn't have tried to drag the picnic table across the yard...lol!) So don't worry too much!!

you only would need surgery if the curve is very extreme. both of my curves are 21 degrees... i dont need anything to fix it because i have about one inch left to grow. if you are almost done growing you won't need anything done. your kids will have a greater chance of getting scoliosis. same with my kids... and i'm the first person in my family that we know of to have scoliosis. school nurses won't always be correct... the do those regular exams at school and never detected it but when we went to the doctor for physicals the nurse practitioner said i need xrays because she was positive i had scoliosis. even doctors/nurses can make mistakes... they said my sister had 20/20 vision and when we moved and she had a school eye exam it was like 20/100 and we went to they eye doctor and she wears glasses now. not that this has anything to do with scoliosis... just go to the doctor to make sure. -- increase the peace.

my brother had it. he had to wear a brace. he could have needed surgery if it didnt work. a lot of people had it. my friend does and she just has to go to the chiropractor. some people dont even need anything done to them. -- I wonder so much what life could be like...but i can't seem to figure it out.

yeah idk how trustworthy the school nurses are. they told me i had scoliosis but when i went to the doctor to get it checked out they said i didn't. nothing's ever came up since then. and if you do, it probably isn't that major. my sorta friend has minor scoliosis and she doesn't have to wear a brace or anything. -- ♥ ♫ ░▒▓aиιssa▓▒░ ♫ ♥ Life is the art of drawing without an eraser The hardest thing in life, is letting go of what you thought was real. I have mild scoliosis, and having it mildly is pretty common actually. Unless you have a severe case, you won't need surgery or a back brace. Your doctor should let you know the severity of what you have.
