Well I know you said you wanted to go darker but just FYI: if you want to go lighter, you're going to have to bleach your hair.

Most hair dyes are now made where they aren't as harsh on your hair, but the best thing to do would be to check out the special shampoos that are made for colored hair.


May I suggest the you read the ingredient list on the back of the bottles of your normal shampoo and the special shampoo. Typically, all shampoos are made out of the exact same ingredients and the shampoo companys claim that their different shampoos do different things when in reality, they don't and the companies are simply trying to make money. The colored hair shampoo will probably cost more than your normal shampoo so that's why I recommend reading the label - it could save you a few bucks.
