^ That's a really good point. That was one of the focuses of my religion course this year... I have a part of a project I did this year on sacramental awareness and the kingdom of God. It's probably not as good as the essay you were reading, but I said I'd share some of the things I learned this year.

*****************************************************
Speaking of miracles, does anyone know details about Eucharistic miracles? I've been reading a bit about them...
******************************************************

(..... ..... goes on for about a page....)
....When God called the Hebrews out of Egypt, God chose them to be his people. They were summoned to be a light to the nations, living the revelation of God for the entire world to see and hear. Through God’s covenant with them, the Lord became their life, and everything in life required guidance from God. Just as God shaped the Hebrew people, He shapes our life as we live out the new covenant brought about by Jesus. We too, are called to be a light to world and reveal God's generosity and love. God’s self revelation is complete in Jesus, who made a new and everlasting covenant with us, and is passed on through the Scriptures and apostolic tradition.
Ordinary life is filled with encounters with God if we take the time to experience it. During Jesus' life, He celebrated Jewish holidays and Jewish culture, participating in ordinary life, but He also made changes and transformed it at the same time by showing people a new way to live. When He told parables, He compared ordinary life and things we do know to things that we don't know (about God and His kingdom).
In the same way everyday events such as eating or being with friends can also enable us to live out our own covenant relationship with God. We are thankful for food and friends. We were not created to be alone. By showing other kindness, we reflect God's love. God's grace is right before our eyes, we just need to take the time to recognize and respond to it. We continue Jesus' mission of transforming our culture and ourselves, and make Him present in the most ordinary events of our lives. As St. Teresa of Avila said, "Christ has no body on earth but yours; no hands, no feet on earth but yours."

Today, I read an interesting essay on miracles. Pretty much, and in short (I may expand later) it talked about how if you are in tune with God and not with earthly things, everything will seem extra-ordinary. If you see everything through Christ-like eyes, you will learn to distinguish the really awesome from the awesome. lol. Sometimes people expect miracles to be big and bright. But, sometimes they're not.

Its similar to that story that you hear: look for Jesus in the poor, needy, and homeless. I've had an email like that come around several times.

:)

I'm guessing no one really knows about this event? I found an article, so I guess I'll read it and maybe share what I've learned. :)

My family goes to Mass every Sunday and Holy day as well.
Plus, we usually go to the Triduum Masses if possibly (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil).

I don't go to a Catholic School now, but I did in 3rd-5th grade. When I was there, we had school mass on Friday's. Now I'm homeschooled.

Hi English Gal!

Yes, sometimes it does seem that policies or rules in the Catholic Church should change to fit the times, but that's not how it happens. God doesn't change to fit modern times, so why should the Church? (That's not a very good answer. I can't figure out how to write what I'm thinking...)

As for the adoption thing, I'm pretty sure that its perfectly fine to give a baby for adoption. It makes another couple happy, and you are making the life for the baby happier too (if that's the case). Correct me anyone if I'm wrong.)

Sorry these weren't the best answers.....

I was thinking.. shouldnt birth control really be made ok to use nowadays for catholics? because surely its better than having a child thats not really wanted or who can't be given the love and care it needs? and what if the parents dont have enough money to support the child? then does that mean they shouldn't have sex? because surely sex is meant to be something which brings a married couple closer together?

also, i wanted to no, if i woman becomes pregnant with a child they can't afford to support then is adoption ok in the catholic church?

oh and btw i hope this doesnt sound rude, because im not trying to sound rude, just quite fascinated about the catholic religion :) x

Wow! I wouldn't do that.....

I don't know. I might start doing it when I'm older....it seems kinda nice. I've seen a family where the women cover their heads. I've only seen them three times though, so maybe they switched when they went to church...or moved or something.
I have worn a hat in church before though.....it was kinda weird though.

>My mom says that when she was little it was pretty much mandatory for women to cover their heads at Mass.

One of my friend's mom's said the same thing. If they forgot their head coverings, they'd wear tissues on their head! lol.

> You wouldn't want people to notice?
I don't know. I'm not really considering wearing one, it's just a thought. It's probably something I would start off with if I decided to. I don't want to turn it into something that attracts attention... or distracts me. There's a lot of people who think it's being done for pride or making some fashion statement, when it isn't.
I almost never wear hats or anything on my head at all.

And I heard that Natural Family Planning still should only be used if necessary or something, and that it would be a sin to use for selfish reasons...? I don't know much about this. Does anyone have more details?
