The author of the book is Mormon (LDS). As a Christian I don't think it's any more anti-Christian than Harry Potter... it's just fantasy. If it doesn't lessen your faith, it should be alright. I've read the books and I think the story is well done. -- Edited by hiyaitsmeee at 03/05/2009 5:57 PM PST -- ♥hiyaitsmeee♥ ~gs' friendly canadian What do Catholics really believe? i've not read the books, but i went to see Twilight recently (and LOVED it lol). I'm a christian, and i don't think it's anti-christian at all. i think people over analyze things way too much.

And, a person, I'm actually not obsessed with Twilight...I would say I'm in knee deep. lol! But, I guess some people are looking way to far into it. I just listened to a podcast on a Catholic movie review of Harry Potter. It was like, yeah, there's witchcraft and disobeying authority, but as long as you keep your morals and faith in the back of your head as you read these books and aren't immature enough to try and be like those characters, then it is a fine story. -- Edited by cats4liz at 03/05/2009 5:35 PM PST -- "Like a song without words, like a world without music, I wouldn't know what to do I'd be lost without you.......watching over me." I guess this is looking pretty deep into the book. One article I read used a food analogy. It said that the Twilight series was like having the ingredient high fructose corn syrup as the first ingredient and trans fat as the second. (Odd way to put it...). Anyway, it said that eating these ingredients in food wouldn't kill you, but they weren't healthy. Sometimes, eating too much fatty food or sugary food could hinder your ability to like something good, beautiful, and true. I think that was a very clever analogy. Twilight isn't "good food", nor is it good, beautiful, or high and noble. ♥ I'd still like to hear your thoughts though. -- "Like a song without words, like a world without music, I wouldn't know what to do I'd be lost without you.......watching over me." omg lol ik right. that's just stupid. my brother said this girl in his class has a bookmark saying you shouldnt read judy blume books because they're unholy or something. i was like wtf it's a book. that's ridiculous. i may not be into twlight, but it'd be damn stupid to just get rid of a book that you're obsessed with because a few crazies are against it. -- ♥ ♫ ░▒▓aиιssa▓▒░ ♫ ♥ Life is the art of drawing without an eraser The hardest thing in life, is letting go of what you thought was real. I think it is yet another perfect example of taking things too far. I mean, Edward is not replacing Jesus as Savior or Messiah, he's just the example of the perfect guy that every girl wants. -- I'm completely in love <3 I'm a Theologian I'm a geometer ~~~~~~~ "May the matchless name of Jesus be the anthem of our lives. ill be the first to admit religion is not a priority in my life. so if a book is anti christian that doesn't mean "omg i cant touch it" I am not going to Hell for reading soemtihng that is supposedly anti christian. And i highly doubt twilight is. LIke somoene said people take things way toos eriously and read way too much into stuff. Like a few years ago the were saying spongebob was gay because he held hands with aptrick. i mean wtf? he's a freaking cartoon character. yea dont get too worked up over it -- if you wanna make the world a better place, take a look in the mirror and make that change rip mj :'[

I don't feel that Twilight is anti-Christian, but I do agree with the reviewers on some notes such as Bella isn't a "martyr" she's just a whiny girl with a skewed view of reality. It's a fantasy story, I don't think it's causing any girl to denounce her religion. I've actually found many a girls embracing the religion because Eddykins mentions it every now and then. -- well maybe you should just drink a lot less coffee and never ever watch the ten o'clock news maybe you should kiss someone nice or lick a rock, or both ---Regina Spektor Ghost of Corporate Future

i am catholic, yet i love Twilight. no offense but i'm not gonna bother reading those reviews (i already read one today). my pov is that it's a story. it's someone's imagination. it's enjoyable to read and immerse yourself in that book. people take things WAY too seriously. and if it IS anti-christian (which i don't think so. she IS a mormon so....) that really won't affect how i look at the story. -- ello. I'm seventeen. If you need to talk, I'll listen. Glenn Beck is my hero. Google is my friend. :] keep an open mind... and i'm waiting for a mature guy to be mine.

Twilight Anti-Christian??

Well, I've read all the Twilight books...and they are good stories...but not great. I was looking online for Catholic/Christian book reviews on Twilight. One of them said that it should only be read by 17+ teens. Another was pretty similar, but mentioned the bad examples and bad concepts that were in these books. Here's a few articles I found about this: http://spesunica.wordpress.com/2008/11/16/the-twilight-saga-a-critique/ http://spesunica.wordpress.com/2008/12/27/important-do-girls-need-fantasy/ http://spesunica.wordpress.com/2008/12/01/is-twilight-anti-christian-yes/ http://www.catholic.org/ae/books/review.php?id=30898 So, what are your thoughts. Do you believe the Twilight books to be Anti-Christian? This has opened my eyes to what's really talked about in these books...but I don't know if I should get rid of my books. I've already came to like them, and the story and some characters (some). -- "Like a song without words, like a world without music, I wouldn't know what to do I'd be lost without you.......watching over me."
