That is one of the reasons why I don't read or like these books. The content is just cold and not comforting to read. Yes it is okay for books to be full of adventure and scary or hard situations, but these books are really bad from what I heard! I don't get with all of the millions of books out there why are the Twilight books so popular? There are way better books out there! I sometimes wonder if people really like them or are they just following the crowd?

These opinions are having a strong influence over me right now...that's why I'm struggling to make this choice. I don't know what the right thing is. I've been praying, hoping God will tell me what to do.
Thanks for everyone's opinion! I know these books aren't dark material or Anti-religion like The Golden Compass (which I never read or watched...), but I'm really struggling to make this choice. I don't want to give into temptation, but if there really aren't that many "bad or immoral" parts, then why shouldn't I enjoy the series? I mean, especially in the last book, there are some parts that are "graphic" and immoral. I think Breaking Dawn is the "worst" out of them all...

It sounds like these opinions are just having a huge influence on you. That happens to me sometimes, after you read some strong opinions, you can start to believe them. I think you should just decide for yourself.

Do you really want to let other people dictate what you can and can't like?

I know that you're very dedicated to your faith, and you have an unshakable relationship with God. That's yours, and yours alone. Past a certain point, you have to decide what aspects of life fit in with your beliefs. You read the books, and you enjoyed them. Maybe these Christian people condemn Twilight, but does that mean you should, too? This is your question to answer, not mine. After all, "advice is a dangerous gift, even from the wise to the wise" :)

The series isn't even heavy material, anyway. Maybe that's what that person was referring to with the food analogy. The series isn't great for you because it's chicklit. It's not exactly a classic or even an intelligent novel. If you really want to grow linguistically and intellectually, you have to grow beyond Twilight. But I digress.

The crownless again shall be king.

it's no better than harry potter.
i think it just depends on your own conviction & your own personal opinion.
i personally am not convicted to get rid of them, so i shall not. :)

I'm trying to say that this book does seem worse than I thought. I always pushed the immoral things to the side and continued reading the story as it was: a love story. But, now, after reading these reviews, I'm not so sure. Some of the things they write were happeneing in my head. That's why I was asking about: people's thoughts on the immoral stuff in these books. Not just the story-line.

Hey, I haven't seen, nor read the book Twilight but i really wanna see it, I'm a christian too and I totally agree with everything you said. I mean, look at all these 9 and 10 year olds getting broken hearted and dating, and i think it is just horrible!. The book probably does have some kind of message in it. kinda like Lord Of The Rings and Chronicles Of Narnia the movies do too. They may have mystical evil creatures in the movie, but they really have a message in it. Have a great day!!

I'm a cHristian, but I LOVE Twilight, I write a blog. And I mentioned this topic actually two days ago. I'll post the link to my blog, and I'll paste the text also. Here is the link to my blog....
http://pinkgreen-hollianne.blogspot.com

Here is what I said about this:

"Yes, I am one of those "Twilighters." You may think that that is ironic, since I say I follow God, and the book is about vampires. I believe there is a message though that the book series sends teen girls. You need to look beyond the fact that the story involves vampires, because the story really teaches girls to follow their dreams. People in this world teach girls that dreams don't come true, and that their is no such thing as guys who treat girls correctly. Neither thing is true, and yet people, girls all over the world believe these lies. Dreams won't come true, if you don't believe they will. All you have to do is pray. Have faith for once in your lie. This book series gives girls the hope that people won't give them anywhere else.

I suggest reading this series, and renewing the hope we all once had growing up." -Pondering Zoe

i guess it depends on how you perceive the book and if you even apply it to your own life
i think its such an awesome story its so much fun and like one of the articles said "romance with danger"
i dont think it hurts to read it. i mean come on, lets not dramatize this silly little book. bella falls in love with a gorgeous guy and hes amazingly romantic. how can that be bad? haha. vampires dont exist.
im catholic and i dont think its a problem at all...

The author of the book is Mormon (LDS).

As a Christian I don't think it's any more anti-Christian than Harry Potter... it's just fantasy. If it doesn't lessen your faith, it should be alright.

I've read the books and I think the story is well done.
