There are also sea sponges which are like tampons but reusable. I lalalalalalove my Lady Cup (menstrual cup) but I really really want a coloured one. I'm thinking of getting a Lunette Selene or maybe a Meluna or a Fleurcup. Then again, I can't really justify it, my lady cup works fine -- You've got a smile that could light up this whole town, I haven't seen it in a while since she brought you down Have you ever thought just maybe You belong with me?

Yeah, I might end up waiting till I'm 18 or something to get a cup. And organic pads seem like a big hassle to get actually....... -- "Like a song without words, like a world without music, I wouldn't know what to do I'd be lost without you.......watching over me." ob is my favourite tampon right now. =] I'm considering organic pads and tampons. Most of the reviews were decent, but I'm still researching. They're kinda expensive, but it's worth it considering the chemicals in ordinary pads and tampons. What I really want is a menstrual cup. I tried asking my mom, but she didn't like the idea. I sent her an email last year... we have discussed it much since.=/ But she didn't like the idea of tampons either, so I think it's just my mom. She's a bit overprotective. I'll just wait until I have my own credit card, and buy it myself. I saw the Divacup at the store but I don't think that brand would work for me. I've tried cloth pads, and washing by hand was a bit of a hassle, so I gave up. Especially finding a place to dry them, and finding the time to wash them. But they were very comfortable. -- ♥hiyaitsmeee♥ ~gs' friendly canadian What do Catholics really believe? Catholic Mythbusters- Ask a Catholic!

ok so what i did to tell my mom is to get an ad from a yoga magazine that mentioned menstrual cups. she said as long as i knew what i was getting myself into that i could try it it was actually much easier than i expected :D as for cloth pads...ive used them before and will probably use them again in the future. i make my own. all i do is take old clothes and cut them out in the shape of a pad. then i use some safety pins to hold them on my undies. this works for me cause i dont really need them to catch anything but a few leaks here and there from my cup. after they seem dirty i just wash them with a little soap and water and let them dry. my BIG issue with them is where i let them dry because i dont want my family to see them. so for now im sticking with regular pads because i dont have to use many of them (usually 2 to 3 per cycle) because by the 3rd day of my period i dont leak any more hope i helped! -- The road may be rough but the only way over it is to keep on driving.

Yeah, you just dump it (there's actually a whole thread on them here) and clean it with mild soap or wipe it out. I don't think cleaning would be a big hassle personally. ..... Cloth pads are probably harder to clean, however, it isn't that hard to. The ones I looked at said you soak in a bucket w/ cold water and then washed. So, people kept like the bucket under the sink and washed once/week. It doesn't seem too bad, but a bit gross at first. =/ -- "Like a song without words, like a world without music, I wouldn't know what to do I'd be lost without you.......watching over me." Insertion is always different for everyone. Some people take one cycle to learn it, others a few. As long as you are confident you shouldn't have too many problems. As for your mom, just like say "Mom, I'd like to try a menstrual cup." Who knows, she might be interested herself! Might as well ask, otherwise you'll be waiting forever just wondering what might happen! -- "Outside the cars are beeping out a song just in your honor; And though they do not know it all mankind are now your brothers; And thus the cathedral had spoken wishing well to all us sinners; And with a sigh grew silent till next year's big human winner"-- Regina Spektor

I like the idea as well. I think the hardest thing for me would be: insertion and telling mom--like what do I say??? lol -- "Like a song without words, like a world without music, I wouldn't know what to do I'd be lost without you.......watching over me."
