Happy Fourth everyone! Any questions? I won't be on for at least two days (today&tomorrow)....just so everyone knows. -- "Outside the cars are beeping out a song just in your honor; And though they do not know it all mankind are now your brothers; And thus the cathedral had spoken wishing well to all us sinners; And with a sigh grew silent till next year's big human winner"-- Regina Spektor

A menstrual cup is an alternate menstrual product. Didn't you read my post? It kinda explains it a lot. -- "Outside the cars are beeping out a song just in your honor; And though they do not know it all mankind are now your brothers; And thus the cathedral had spoken wishing well to all us sinners; And with a sigh grew silent till next year's big human winner"-- Regina Spektor

From what I've seen, and heard from other people's experiences, it's not too bad. I just rinse mine with cold water and then dry it (after I've dumped the blood in the toilet.). When I needed to change mine at school, I just dumped the blood in the toilet, and then cleaned it up really good with toilet paper. It cleaned it up as good as rinsing. I had to do it, but not too much....so I never really saw it to be a problem once I got insertion down. -- "Outside the cars are beeping out a song just in your honor; And though they do not know it all mankind are now your brothers; And thus the cathedral had spoken wishing well to all us sinners; And with a sigh grew silent till next year's big human winner"-- Regina Spektor

I dunno if this question has already been answered, cos cant be bothered to read it all, but like.. isnt it kind of discusting having to clean it out? and like.. what if you need to change it at school? like it would be so embarrassing to wash it out at school.. x -- Edited by x-EnglishGal2008-x at Jul 1, 2009 8:11 PM IST

Well, to tell you the truth, you really just have to go out and buy one. The first cup you get is just an estimate. I got a Divacup at first, then figured out how it was too long, and went for a shorter cup, but with a higher capacity. Not meaning to sound gross, but maybe when you're on your period, you can stick a finger up there to feel how long it is until you hit your cervix. I did it and felt that my cervix is shorter when I'm on my period, so then I knew I needed to go for a shorter cup. How far up do you need to shove the tampon applicator up to get it inserted? That's actually probably a cleaner way of estimating. I don't know whether or not it'll work, but it's worth a try. Let me know if you have anymore questions. -- "Outside the cars are beeping out a song just in your honor; And though they do not know it all mankind are now your brothers; And thus the cathedral had spoken wishing well to all us sinners; And with a sigh grew silent till next year's big human winner"-- Regina Spektor

> to find the right size it often depends on if youve had children or if you're over 30. i have a mooncup and there are only 2 sizes, A and B I didn't mean by that type of sizing. There's different brands with different dimensions and capacities, and I'm not sure which one to get. I know I'm going to get size small, it's more about choosing a brand for me. -- ♥hiyaitsmeee♥ ~gs' friendly canadian What do Catholics really believe? Catholic Mythbusters- Ask a Catholic!

ive been using a mooncup for almost a year now and i love it. My mum doesnt actually no im using one cus im sure she wld think it gross nd stuff but i love it cus i have a light flow so dont like using tampons but i cant stand pads. plus im not under the constant pressure of the max 8 hour thing they r just so easy. oh and in answer to hiyaitsme menstrual cups are the reusable form of tampons that dont carry the risk of tss. to find the right size it often depends on if youve had children or if you're over 30. i have a mooncup and there are only 2 sizes, A and B -- Edited by sexy_beast at Jun 26, 2009 1:39 PM CDT

> the name of them is really gross, when i read it, its like an evil voice in my head is saying it.. like grr roarrrr meeennnnnstRRRRuall cupss, yeah that doesnt make sense but you would know what i mean if you could hear my thoughts lol same here!! Anyways, I've been considering a cup for over a year, and I still haven't gotten one. Firstly, my mom didn't like the idea. But I saw a Divacup at my health food store, and thought that if I actually bought one, my mom would be more open to the idea. I was really considering a Lunette or Ladycup though, since they were smaller and I don't want to get a Divacup and have it not work. But I went on Menstrualcups.org again, read over the comparison posts, and I realized choosing a cup was more complicated because you have to consider length too because people had problems with the cup being too longer, or moving upwards... =S Now I'm just really confused, and I'm not sure if I can even handle a cup. Even after using tampons a year, removal and inserting can still be a slight problem. How can I tell which cup has the best dimensions.... and how are cups compared to tampons exactly? -- ♥hiyaitsmeee♥ ~gs' friendly canadian What do Catholics really believe? haha I know. When I first saw it on the web, I was thinking, why don't they make it something so people actually ask about it? Like menstrual cups is pretty obvious...they should've been more creative! lol Any questions? -- "Outside the cars are beeping out a song just in your honor; And though they do not know it all mankind are now your brothers; And thus the cathedral had spoken wishing well to all us sinners; And with a sigh grew silent till next year's big human winner"-- Regina Spektor
