well for some people with sensitive skin it bothers them...so i tried playtex...TERRIBLE...i tried tampax compak cause i figured even though it is the same brand, it is a different tampon...they would be fine, IF THEY WOULD OPEN

Use a different brand...I use Tampax Pearl (Sport tampons) and the only way they ever leak for me is if they are full...

OH!

Always get the 180 angle ones..instead of just two rectangles...MUCH MORE COVERAGE and MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE!!!

And scented ones don't make a difference for me, and I have VERY sensitive skin...;)

Glad to help you!

I really like Playtex Gentle Glide.
I very rarely leak when it's not full.

One reason there are so many different types of tampons is because they're different shapes and sizes - not just absorbancies.
Every woman is shaped a little differently.
I almost always have clean spots and often leaking no matter what brand or shape I use, however, the new improved tampax juniors work best for me - now that playtex doesn't make a slimfit.
Other brands / shapes you may want try:
Playtex Sport
Playtex Gentle Glide (a different shape)
O.B. - these come with and without applicators - when I first started these worked the best for me - if they still make the 'Silk' those are smoother and easier to slide in.

I know it won't do any good while swimming, but the carefree with new 2x more airflow panty liners are really soft - they feel a lot like cotton.

When first starting it's totally normal to not have a regular cycle, but if a few years from the start it isn't going into at least a semi regular routine, you might consider asking the doctor about a blood test for your progesterone and estrogen levels. If you are low on progesterone it can make you skip periods, but still have occassional or even nearly constant pms. But the first few to several years it is comepletely normal.

(almsot forgot. I don't think a higher absorbancy would necessarily help - it still same brand/style/shape, could potentionally do more harm than good. Always go with the lowest absorbancy you need. )
Kotex makes tampons too, but I don't know much about them, I can't use them personaly. - they do have a bigger shape, however, maybe those would work for you?

Hope this was helpful.
Good luck!
:)

yea, that is what i am using, tampax pearl lite/regular. your period usually lasts at least 3 days right? if so, on monday i am going swimming and will need to not have my tampon leak. i think that the tampax pearl have the best leak protection, so wouldnt another brand be worse? would a higher absorbancy at least while swimming help, or not?

try a dif. brand, and the same thing happens to me with the string!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its SO annoying. but i use tampax pearl cuz they have the "leakguard protection" and it realy works. also, instead of a puny pantiliner, try the new always infiniti pads, bc u wont even tell ur wearing them, and they obosrb SO fast its reciculous!!. so instead of a paniliner w/ a tampon, use a tampon+ an always ininiti pad :]

Leaking Tampon but light(ish) flow? PLEASE HELP!!!! only my second period!!

Dec 13, 2008 9:12 PM

okay so if you have seen my other posts, you know that my first period was like 4 months ago and i hadent gotten any since then. so i just started again today, and in the morning it was really light. there was nothing on my underwear but a lot of blood came out on the toilet paper when i wiped. i put on a tampon and then 2 or 3 hours later when i went to the bathroom i noticed that the string was covered with blood almost all the way to the end of the string. i replaced the tampon, but there was still a little more than half of the tampon on one side that was still completely clean. then when i went to change it like 3 hours later (again because there was blood down the string and some on my underwear) there was still about a quarter wide strip of the tampon that was clean. i put on a panty liner (i hate the fealing of pads, and neither me nor my mom has any) to reduce the amount of blood on my underwear, but it isnt working very well (i think it is to short). so all day the same quarter strip of each tampon is clean, but i am forced to change it at least every 3 instead of 4 hours, and it still leaks. what should i do? do i need a more absorbant tampon event though a fair amount of these tampons are clean. how can i stop my tampons from leeking? btw. this is only my second period, and is MUCH heavier than my first which was exteremly light, and i dont know how long my cycle will be. if i will still be on my period by monday i especially need to stop my tampon from leeking.

ps. sorry this is so long, i am just nervous
