well i think everyone gets a little self concious about various things this one may be more common im sure youre just a little nervous $5 that after a little while in the pool it'll all melt away(: -- proud social phobe- one who excessively fears embarrassment in social situations I'd like to make myself believe... that planet earth turns slowly... ~owl city the only way to fix a broken heart is for someone else to come along and put it back together

I would still do it if I was you. I think having your friends there would be a bonus more than anything. Sure, you may find it a little weird to begin with if you're insecure about your body, but I'm sure they won't even notice your insecurities or flaws. And if if they did, they're not exactly gonna laugh at you, or make comments, because they're your friends, and friends wouldn't do that to you. -- 07/18/2009 ♥ iloveyou!

I have the reverse of you lol I'm more self concious with strangers than with people I know. I think you should definitely go for it & just push yourself to do it. if they're your friends nothing bad will come out of it! & you have no idea how many other people there are going to be too concerned with themselves, feeling the same way as you that they won't even notice your insecurities or flaws. everyone has them & tends to not focus on others but just sees their own. -- ~ Cory ~ xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

So my friend tinkerbell (her nickname, not her real name lol) is making me do swim team at my school. I kinda wanted to do it anyways, just not alone, and so shes gonna do it with me. We signed up yesterday and everything, and practice starts on monday.I started to get like reeeeeally excited for it....but I just found out who is gonna manage it. They are my two best guy friends. and I am gonna be sooooooooo self conscious. I know me, and im like totally not self conscious in front of strangers, but my friends (espesially these 2) i am sooo sooooooo self conscious aout. i know im gonna be freaking out about every little thing I do cause i think they will be watching me. I know they wont be most of the time (they both have girlfriends, and Kyle's gf is tinkerbell....) but im still really worried. anyone else get this same self conciousness as me?? (like when it dictates your life pretty much.) What can i do? I reeeally wanna swim. but i also dont cuz i dont think ill have fun cuz they are gonna be there. What do i do? Any ideas on how i can control the self consciousness some so i can swim? please help!!! -- Im a sailor. I have a mind and mouth to prove it.
