Yea, I've heard of Spinecor. I read an article about it and the upsetting thing is it was invented in Canada yet almost no Canadian drs use it. If I want it I gotta go to Quebec. And I heard that insurances here will only cover traditional braces. I wasn't diagnosed till last year, but my curve did increase slightly. My dr says I don't need a brace unless its over 20. I'm worried but I just hope everything will be ok. I try not to think too much. I'm hoping the site will be helpful. -- ♥hiyaitsmeee♥ ~gs' friendly canadian What do Catholics really believe? Oh yeah I forgot, I think you have to wait until Jules (the Web Mistress) approves. It's is a very very safe, protective site, Jules does an excellent job of keeping everything in order. yeah I see you now You are the newest member. I would be concerned if you're still growing because like during that time of growth a small curve can get worse. Like I was 11 when i was first diagnosed my curves were 7 and 9. Now they are 10 and 20. I am kinda upset I did not brace then my doctor said I could wear a brace if I wanted to and I said "NOOOO!" LOL but if I did my curves may have gone away or stayed the same. It still is not too late though, there is a new brace called the Spinecor that could help. The only problem with braces is they are very expensive, it depends on your insurence though. So yeah I don't know what 2 do now either. -- "R E C Y C L E, What is that? IT'S ECO FRIENDLY!!! GOOOOOO GREEN!"-Me

. My doctor looked at my x ray and there's a bone or something, I forgot and she says that I still have more growing to do. She said that I was really flexible, but now that school started I haven't been exercising as much so that may have changed =/ Even though I still swim 4 times a week. I don't really have a dr, she said i didn't need to go back. She was much more helpful in explaining everything though, and actually gave me info on scoliosis. Then my mom took me to the pediatrician for a new referral and she said that my spine looked better and i didn't need one. So i honestly don't know what to do now, my mom is going to see what should happen next. I do have pronated feet, but they are the same length. Sometimes I wear orthotics when I play sports. I'm ecofriendlyfutura, lol. I just joined... I can't post yet though =) -- Edited by hiyaitsmeee at 04/18/2009 2:02 PM PDT -- ♥hiyaitsmeee♥ ~gs' friendly canadian What do Catholics really believe? They look at your hips and use something called a Risser Scale to tell where you are growth wise. I am done growing according to my doctors. I have been 5 feet 3 inches for quite some time now. Yes my first doctor told me to swim because it would help to strengthen my back. Yoga is probably good too but my therapist told me to be careful with some positions. I do yoga on my Nintendo Wii sometimes, it is fun but I can't bend very far and I have been having back pain lately so I have not been in the mood for yoga. It makes me really upset when my doctors don't help. I have been to 3 different doctors, One left, and the other said I needed to see a specialist that deals with kids cases. Oh okay, if your legs are different lengths a wedge can help, I wore one for awhile but now my legs are almost the same lengths and my doc said I don't need it. What do you think about your current doctor? LOL sorry this is so long! :D Okay I'll see you on Spinekids, I'm liltwirler 136 It's a really great and supportive, helpful site. -- Edited by lilTwirler136 at 04/18/2009 1:57 PM PDT -- "R E C Y C L E, What is that? My doctor just told me to stretch. I don't get any physical therapy. I don't know what exercises to do for scoliosis but I do yoga since I take yoga class. And I swim, and my dr said that was good for my spine too. I already went to 2 different specialists because the first one didn't help me at all. My legs are the same length, but I don't think they figured that out from an x ray. There is no way I'm going to wait till i get surgery though. The dr told me i didn't have to get back because my curve didn't get worse from 6 months ago, but she also said i would still grow. So i really don't know right now. And I think I'll sign up for SpineKids. Its a good idea. Thanks =) -- ♥hiyaitsmeee♥ ~gs' friendly canadian What do Catholics really believe? Catholic Mythbusters- Ask a Catholic!

Hiyaitsme- We are two peas in the same boat LOL. I am experiencing the same prob! I am a upset about it also. My doctor was like your curves are 10 and 20 (I have 2 curves my spine is like an S) you are done growing so you don't need to worry though. I am in pain sometimes and my skeleton is like slanted along with my spine. He said not to worry about it unless it gets to 40 then I would need a brace. 40 is way too long to wait to brace maybe 25? My doctor was not too specific either. He just said core targeting exercises and my Physical Therapy exercises. I am not sure if you went to PT yet but I did, I got a packet with different exercises telling me what to do, how to do them and for how long and how many times a day. I am happy my curves are not too bad but still I just don't want to leave them like this! They could hurt me down the road when i am like 70 and when you are 70 it is a lot harder to treat them than when you are in your childhood years. I really want to get better and not just leave them there. They are pretty noticable, I can even feel them. You said you got 3 x-rays did you have LLD x-rays to see if your legs are the same length? Keep me updating on how you're doing and feel free to talk whenever you want. If you want you can get a SpineKids account, I have one I am liltwirler 136 there. Good luck -- "R E C Y C L E, What is that? IT'S ECO FRIENDLY!!! GOOOOOO GREEN!"-Me

Ray Jay19- Oh no, a big curve and you're still growing? Your doctor might prescribe you a brace because as you grow your curve could get worse but a brace will help stabilize it. I suggest you join Spinekids I belong to that site it is a really great site for people with Scoli. http://www.spinekids.com/messages.shtml -- Edited by lilTwirler136 at 04/18/2009 1:02 PM PDT -- "R E C Y C L E, What is that? I have it very big curve but not bad enough to need a brace. I can have very bad back aches andwat realy sucks is I have a habbit of craking my back witch only helps for five minutes then makes it worse... It isn't too bad if you exercise and keep active, you MUST keep your back strait too. I have a problem wit that too so in my case it is very hard and my doctor doesn't want it to get worse because apparently I have a big groth spurt ahead of me. (not like i'm tall enough) -- i wish for everything good and nothing bad... wat do i get? Wat i didn't wish for... i wish for everything bad and nothing good... wat do i get?Wat i wished for... life is short don't wish... take it into your hands and do it for you self... i luv my daddy

my doctors all said, your fine, you don't need to come back. which is frustrating because I am still growing, even though its 16 degrees now. I went to 2 different doctors and got 3 x rays. What exercises can be done? My drs say to do exercises but they aren't specific... =S -- ♥hiyaitsmeee♥ ~gs' friendly canadian What do Catholics really believe? Catholic Mythbusters- Ask a Catholic!

Hi I also have Scoliosis, Your curve could get worse since you are still growing. I do exercises too and I am considering a Spinecor brace. I sort of wish I braced before when I was first diagnosed it may have helped my curve not get as bad. But I don't need surgery or anything it is not too bad. I wore a wedge for awhile which helped a bit. I know you posted this awhile ago so I was wondering how you are doing? I want recommend this site, feel free to join it is a really nice site for kids and parents of kids with Scoliosis. www.spinekids.com -- "R E C Y C L E, What is that? IT'S ECO FRIENDLY!!! Im 13. I haven't finished growing. Not even close to finish coz i haven't got me period. Yea. The doctor handed me these speciail yoga/exercises. but he never told me to go back and let him check. He actually thought I didn't have scoliosis but he told me to get x-rays done incase and it turned out I did. I was just curious of why he didn't tell me to go back. thats all. but yea. thanks. -- Edited by jesusispeace at 12/29/2008 1:07 AM PST -- Left The Periodless Club Twenty Fith Of January Two Oh Oh Nine.

I do too... If its under 15 degrees then u don't need to worry at all. 15 and over, and you're supposed to be referred to a specialist and have them check on you. You only need a brace when it gets pretty bad. If your still worried ask your doctor. Mine isn't bad so I don't need a brace... My doctor did suggest to keep active and do some yoga, it might help with flexiblility and pain, but ask first. -- Edited by hiyaitsmeee at 12/26/2008 4:35 PM PST -- ♥hiyaitsmeee♥ ~gs' friendly canadian What do Catholics really believe?
