The Church allows natural family planning... just not artificial birth control
About preventing the egg from attaching to the womb, maybe that's why some people call it the abortion pill? not sure about that but it could be why

i think it's a good idea, a couple of my friends have had to take it, and i think its a much better idea then waiting and then possibly having to have an abortion :/

and also.. so, if a couple doesn't want children, they should never have se.x? is that what the church believes, because i think thats ridiculous.

First off, you can't take plan B as birth control. It's like $50 for one treatment. It's much easier to pay $2 for a c0ndom or (I don't know how much birth control costs...) simply pay for birth control.

And the difference in that was because most married couples don't have "accidental" pregnancies usually if they have kids they were actively trying to have kids so we would still be here anyways.

Ok, from what I'm reading you guys have a lot mixed information about Plan B. I have taken it before, and I looked up information on it before I took it. Here's what's directly off the website:

"Plan B is an emergency contraceptive that can prevent a pregnancy after unprotected sex, contraceptive failure, or sexual assault. If taken as directed within 72 hours(3 days) of unprotected sex, Plan B reduces the chance of pregnancy by up to 89%. But the sooner you take it, the more effective it will be."
"Plan B is safe and effective. Plan B is FDA-approved and contains levonorgestrel, the same ingredient found in many birth control pills. The difference is that Plan B is two pills taken 12 hours apart and uses a larger dose of levonorgestrel than a single birth control pill. And, unlike many birth control pills, Plan B doesn't contain any estrogin, only progestin."
"Plan B is not an abortion pill. It won't work if you're already pregnant. If you take Plan B and are already pregnant, it will not effect your existing pregnancy."

From the FDA(Federal Drug Administration)'s website:
"Plan B works like other birth control pills to prevent pregnancy. Plan B acts primarily by stopping the release of an egg from the ovary (ovulation). It may prevent the union of sperm and egg (fertilization). If fertilization does occur, Plan B may prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to the womb (implantation). If a fertilized egg is implanted prior to taking Plan B, Plan B will not work. "

I took Plan B two and a half weeks before I was supposed to start my period. I picked it up at Planned Parenthood, took it, experienced no side effects except a little moodiness, and started my period when I was supposed to.

it actually doesnt keep the sperm from metting the egg. it prevents the fertilized egg from inplanting on the uterin wall... and to some that it an abortion. people against abortion believe that life starts at conception which is when the egg and sperm meet so when that fertilized egg cannot inplant it dies....
and with all the talk about dont have sex if youre not ready for a baby.... there are a lot of reasons people dont want to get pregnant. so i think using birth control and condoms is a very responsible thing to do if you choose to have sex.
i use birth control and condoms and i have used plan b before.
also most people having sex are doing it because they are in love not because they want to have babies.....

no i have you guys seen the latest ads they have made 4 new ones each correcting the one before it thats why they are getting sued!

and the egg and sperm meet they just aren't fully fertilized so i guess the baby is never really conceived so it cant be considered abortion but it isn't safe.

No, it is NOT the abortion pill. It's completely different. It either A. Prevents the sperm and egg from meeting. or B. Prevents implant the zygote from implanting in the uterus. It's just an extremely high dose of birth control.

Anyways, I would rather have a girl use the day after pill than get an actual abor.tion.

i don't mean to start an argument by this but if you aren't ready for a baby you shouldn't be having s3x in the first place, but if you aren't thinking or are too young to be able to support a baby then i think morning after pills are a good idea

i'm 100% pro life, but i don't consider plan b immoral. abortion and a morning after pill are two different things. my issue with abortion is that by the time you know you're pregnant, it's been several weeks. a baby has developed and it most likely has a heartbeat. plan b just prevents you from getting pregnant. it won't work if you are already pregnant, therefore, it isn't an abortion pill. obviously, it isn't something you should depend on so you can be careless. you should always use protection, but sometimes things happen. it's an emergency contraceptive just in case. however, R.I.P. chris&skippy pointed out that by taking it. you run the risk of getting cancer or blood clots. if that information is correct, i think i would take my chances with pregnancy

after readig this, i think everyone on girlspace has been educated differently about Plan B. I got the information I did from a pharmacist (my BFF had to use it, and I went with her) pharmacists are experts on medication and i do not think they would give false information to someone who is about to use it.. so. I think there should be more education on Plan B, so girls can consider it more of an option and KNOW what it is about before they go buy the medication.

the catholic church is completly against anything that prevents new life... condoms, birth control (unless for medical reasons) plan B abortions, things of that nature, i cant honestly say i think any of that is right people should be allowed to do as they please in my opinion wether it be have the baby, abort the baby or plan B everyones circumstance is different who is anyone especially a book writtin ages ago about someone or thing i dont believe in to tell people how to live.. in my opinion if u think u might need it go for it.

condoms not only prevent pregnancy, they prevent diseases. what if someone finds their true love but they used to sleep around and got an std? should they never be intimate?

i'm fine with condoms and birth control [at the right age and maturity level and stuff], some people take birth control for health-related issues.

abortion, i won't start on that.
