dad might be losing his job :(

I'm really sorry to hear about that. The one thing that I've learned recently is that you can't always get what you want. My parents both have jobs that pay a lot, and so does my brother so right now we're doing really really good. I used to always get brand name things and everything, but now I'm starting to shop at target and Walmart instead of Hollister, either though we can still afford brand name things, the clothing is the same, but your just paying for the name of the store so I don't see any difference between them. I think I'm doing this to just get ready in case my dad and mom and brother all lose their jobs, then it won't be that much different, and we're also saving money by not buying brand names and the latest things. The last thing I remember buying that's brand name was a juicy jacket, and I regret buying it, but there's really nothing to do now. I hope your dad doesn't lose he's job.

Well I'm happy for you that your dad still has work, but I mean half that stuff you said you bought..do you REALLY need it? It sounds like the things you have in life are more of wants than needs. Not a great way to be raised.

I'm out of highschool, I'm supposed to be a junior this year but I got my GED instead. I've been working for a Marriot Hotel since last year, and I recently got ANOTHER job in a restraunt downtown. Like another girl said below me..work doesn't kill you.

If you need all the latest things so bad, go out and get a job. I had one when I was 14, bought my own car at 16.

i would get a job but nobodys is hiring and i mean NOBODY!! there firing all the teens and giving jobs to parents so they can support their family.

and my dad doesnt sell houses he works at a company that builds them and sells the house through a realtor. and when that was going on a few years ago my dad got 10% from every house sold! and they had like 100 houses and theres only 2 left but the comany owns them.

and he said that well know sometime next week.

This is happening to alot of people in our country right now. I mean I understand that you'll be upset and it will be hard if your dad does lose his job, but I mean there's not much you can do. Just cut back, and next time you going to buy something..I mean do you REALLY need it?

PS: Real Estate isn't that bad actually. The people who have been smart with their money, ( not saying anybody on here isn't..) And older retired people ARE BUYING HOUSES!
My dad's a real estate agent and he's whipping up contracts day in and day out, we even just sold our house last week and we're moving by the end of this month!

my dad got laid off...but we still dont have much money.

see its not too bad we had to cut back an a few things like not eating out as much, and had to buy cheaper clothes,i couldn't buy from holister, or anything like that, unless it was on sale and i mean really on sale...

though i still found awesome clothes at all different stores that accually looked almost exactly the same as the ones at holister. when the jeans with holes in them became popular, i made my own buy like running over them with my bike and such..haha...

and i couldnt go do something every single weekend but still it all worked out. dont worry it'll all work out.

my dad owns a car business, and he's sure he's going to get by in the hard times just because he's cutting corners whereever he can & treating people with kindness so they keep coming back & suchhh.
but we've cut back a LOT.
and i've been using my own money to buy things, instead of asking them for money.

maybe you could get a job?
