im not homeschooled or anything, but when i have a lot of school work to do, i make sure i have the best things to keep me going. i usually keep some veggies or gatorade next to me to keep me going. I also like to get one assignment done, and rest for 5 or 10 minutes before moving on to the next. I wish you the best of luck!

oh, and music kinda helps me concentrate too; not too loud but just background music so the atmosphere doesnt seem so tense : )

I put myself in an environment where it easy to work. Like, if its sunny, i find if i get some snacks, a drink, and a blanket and go outside with my work, and i can work in a relaxed ways. Or when i wake up i make toast and coffee and go and do some work in bed lol. It works for me, anyway, i hate sitting at a table.

If you have a library near you, that can also be really helpful. My college library has facebook banned on the computers, so its so much easier to concentrate on haha. And the environment just seems to inspire me to work. Idk.

Yeah, don't throw yourself in too deep. Give yourself breaks, (but if you're anything like me, DON'T go on facebook). For me, productive breaks like going jogging and playing the piano help to keep me focussed.

Good luck!

haha im not homeschooled but i know the feeling of getting off track and not being able to focus. idk about you, but for me the biggest distraction is just the internet in general. so if i ever want to get anything accomplished i turn my laptop and computer off. and sometimes to keep myself from getting antsy i listen to music, but don't blast it too loudly because then i'm tempted to sing along lol. and also, i get most work done when i'm in my zone. like once i get started and am on a roll not much can stop me. so you kinda just have to keep going and once you get moving you won't even notice time passing by or any distractions around you.

I'm homeschooled too, and I'm also a professional procrastinator, so I tootally know how it goes having to do a crapload of work at one time.

What I do is make a list of all the assignments I have to do in the order I want to do them, and check them off as I go along. It makes things less stressful, & it's nice to see what you've done & what you have to do.

Also, give yourself a 10-15 minute break every 1/2 hour/45 min. Grab something to drink, check your myspace/facebook/this/etc, just to give your brain a break. Buut don't overextend it, and be sure you can refocus on your schoolwork.

Working Hard/Staying Sane? Help please?

Jun 26, 2009 1:17 PM

Well, my mom went and got angry at me today because I still had school work to do. She wants me to finish all my work in 15 days (before I leave for camp for 3 weeks). I can do that...but I'll have to work really hard and about 6-7 hours each day (an hour to an hour and a half in each subject). That doesn't SEEM like a lot, but it is. I know from experience that I can't sit and work for more than 3 hours without getting distracted or not working efficiently.

What do you do in your day to get work done but stay sane? I need tips.

I thought I could extend my work because it isn't DUE till August, but my mom said I should be working harder...and I CAN work harder if I want to...

I'm homeschooled, so this is a specific situation for me, but if you go to public school, you still have to work. How do you do it??

The past years (not high school) I went to school and was homeschooled and I did pretty good and I like school sometimes. But this year for hs, I was doing this new online program and working more on my own and I just got so far behind.

Thanks!!!
